Outfyt was created to motivate and inspire women to live a balanced lifestyle. All of our designs are highly functional for the gym, comfortable enough for a snuggle on the couch with your cat/dog as well as fashionable enough for that night out or music festival.
As an eco conscious brand, we produce timeless pieces that are well constructed and built to last. Our designs are made in small batches and not mass produced, by doing this we increase quality and eliminate excess production and waste.
Helping the environment one Outfyt at a time
Having experienced first hand the amount of plastic waste that came with our first collection shocked us. We did not want to be yet another fashion brand contributing to a non-sustainable society or be a part of the fast fashion industry.
We want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
Our core purpose of creating workout clothes that effortlessly transition from gym life to everyday life will always remain. However, we decided to make a change. All of our future collections will be made with eco friendly fabric. We are on a mission to make environmentally conscious decisions throughout the manufacturing process all the way till it reaches your hands.
By 2020, we aim to be fully eco friendly. Why not now? We still have our first collection stocked and do not want to send it to landfill. Instead of throwing away the current poly mailers that we have, we decided the most sustainable option is to use up what we have.
How is Outfyt sustainable and ethical?
Slow Sustainable Fashion
All our future collections will be made with sustainable fabrics. We believe in producing high quality timeless pieces that are well constructed and built to last for years, not months. Our designs are made in small batches and not mass produced, by doing this we increase quality and eliminate excess production and waste. We believe in the proper care and love of your garments. Therefore, with every purchase you get an Outfyt laundry bag which will help you protect your garment in the wash to ensure they have a full lifespan.
Waste? No Thanks
We’re committing to remove all single-use plastics from our supply chain by 2020. We use FSC certified afforested paper with soy-ink printing for our new hang tags as well as removed the garment label by printing the details directly onto the textile. Our garments will no longer be packaged in plastic but in biodegradable and compostable cassava bags instead. Packing paper and silica gel bags have also been removed.
We have a recycling bin at our boutique in Haji Lane and always practice the 3Rs of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.
We work with an ethical manufacturer in Indonesia where all of their staff are paid well over the minimum wage monitored by the Indonesian Manpower department with decent working hours and overtime pay. All employees and their immediate family are covered by a company health insurance where full medical costs as well as doctors fees and medicine are covered. In terms of occupational health and safety, the factory has several first aid kits around the building and access to a local nurse in case of medical emergency. There is a strict no discrimination policy and no child labour practices. All of the fabric scraps are donated to a charity who make saleable goods.
Our new eco luxe collection is made from ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon. It is made by recovering nylon waste – such as fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture, fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for landfill – and turning it into virgin quality nylon yarn. It's exactly the same as brand new nylon and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.
The ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon is then blended with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fibre, a unique technology that makes fashion tougher so it can fight against fading and hold its shape wear after wear. This fibre technology is designed to provide a long-lasting fit and resist degradation from chlorinated water, the heat and sunscreen lotions up to 10 times longer than unprotected fabrics.
Made from cassava starch, its bags are non-toxic, sturdy, biodegradable and compostable in months, certified non-GMO, and contain zero petroleum-based components. The bags are edible and safe for animals as well as dissolvable in water. Our manufacturer in Indonesia uses Avani's bags to pack our clothes.
